Thirty years ago Virginians elected the first black Governor in the nation.
Join us for a day-long virtual event as we explore the significance of Governor Wilder’s historic inauguration. The symposium will feature a keynote address by the 66th Governor of Virginia, L. Douglas Wilder. Invited guests include Chief Judge Roger Gregory and
political commentator, Larry Sabato.

“There will be those who will tell you that you can’t make it because of how you look,
because of the way you talk. We all have heard that. I almost listened.”

- L. Douglas Wilder, 66th Governor of Virginia

This event is open to the public.
